One Fishy said goodbye today

Woke up this morning to find a lone fishy swimming in the glass tank. One had said goodbye overnight. Spent almost 5 years with us having been born at our old Sulaimaniya villa. May he rest in Peace!

The other feller also left us in September, sadly. May they rest in Peace!

JB moves on

Received information a few moments ago that JB Muller had passed away after suffering a heart attack in Colombo. A man of great courage and commitment towards the Burgher community he has assisted me in my genealogy and historical research for many years now. We will miss him. May he Rest in Peace!

It was only yesterday that I had correspondence  with Esme [ Tanya]  Muller  as we were  going to send some  thing for her father ..., And today  this mail  came rather like a shock . Too  soon ,Sri Lanka has lost  another Dutch Burgher !

The late JB  Muller died in the car of a heart attack while going to Hospital ; he was being  driven by Esme Brother in law ,[ in SL ].
I  received this info from Esme husband  in the NL

We met  JB in February  2011 ,  a terrible bus  journey [we got lost ] to his home place from  where we were in busy Colombo Wellawatta ,  and took us ca 3 hours more as expected ,  ..now thinking back ,...I am so happy that we did take the initiate of John Barry's spontaneous invitation to come at once to his  home ,guess he knew time  maybe was scarce ? .
Jb,  was very kind and gave us a lot of kind help for the Amsterdam Exhibition and  a signed book , we took some pictures of him in his work room .

Talking to his son in law , today who told me ,it was JB himself who had decided that if he should pass away , it should  not be at the home but the wake be in a Funeral parlor ,the Funeral is on Tuesday .

Dear everybody,

I heard my father JB, as you all know him by that name. He has sadly passed away this morning.
I am shocked and sad. This is to let you know only if you know him.

Kind regards,

Esme

Back to the Blog

More than a week since I last posted. Back pains have kept me off work and play this week. Getting back on track, slowly, but steadily.

Attended farewell lunch for Mohamed Jalaludeen of Hollandi bank who is leaving Riyadh after 29 years of service as a banker. Nice gathering, sad parting. Great buffet lunch, Indian style. Chief organizer Shibly.

Eventful Friday, new changes across the city.

Had to chase behind the plumber to have the bathroom fittings all reconnected without any leaks since the retiling of the walls was done by my landlord. What an effort to get it done right the first time.

Maria's Party

Maria, our grand daughter organized a surprise party for one of her class mates where the whole gang converged at Applebees to celebrate. Picked them up and just got home, its after midnight on Thursday already. Waiting for the parents to pick up the rest of the gals from our place. Went to bed at 2:00 am. phew!

Death of M F Hussain in London, the Picasso of India has saddened all those who knew and loved him for his simplicity, humility and great artistic talents. He was 96. God Bless him!
